On April 20 night, one person was killed and two others wounded when the detachable battery of an electric scooter exploded. An 80-year-old lost his life as the explosion triggered flames, causing burn injuries, reported NDTV. The battery was kept on charge inside a house in Nizamabad, Telangana. A case of causing death due to negligence has been registered against Pure EV, the manufacturer, reported NDTV. Over the past two months, several incidents of EV vehicles catching fire have come to light. Nitin Gadkari, Union Transport Minister, said an expert committee will investigate the accidents involving EVs & if any company is found negligent in their processes, a heavy penalty will be imposed.
