The political dispute between China and Taiwan started in the 1940s. After the end of World War II in 1945, Taiwan was separated from China. Japan handed over control of Taiwan to the Comingtang Party after its defeat. But Mao Zedong believed that he should have the right over Taiwan as he has won in China.
