A total of 16 Sri Lankan nationals – all Tamils from the Jaffna and Mannar regions – reached Tamil Nadu on 22 March, in a desperate attempt to flee from the ongoing economic crisis in the country. Amid high inflation and food shortage, they tell the media that "the country has changed, and the poor can’t afford anything anymore".
