Florida Senate Passes Bill , Banning Abortions After 15 Weeks.
CNN reports that the GOP-sponsored bill was passed in the state's Senate on March 3. .
The legislation, which was passed by
the state's House last month, would
ban abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy.
Exceptions would be made for situations causing "serious risk" and fatal fetal abnormalities, but
rape and incest will not be considered.
The bill will now go to Gov. Ron DeSantis, who previously implied his support for such legislation.
Once signed into law, the rule
would go into effect July 1.
Florida House Democrats called the legislation "a direct assault on the people of Florida and our constitutional rights.".
The Miami-Dade County mayor
also spoke out.

CNN reports West Virginia and Arizona
are advancing similar abortion bills.
Mississippi is fighting to have its own 15-week abortion ban upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Additionally, CNN reports the
1973 Roe v. Wade ruling, which legalized abortion
across the country, currently hangs in the balance
