On the fifth day of the Russia-Ukraine war, Vladimir Putin announced that Russia has put its nuclear forces on alert. Also, Ukraine's neighbour Belarus passed a constitutional referendum revoking its non-nuclear status and paved the way for Russian nuclear weapons to be placed in the country.
