Elton John (Reg Dwight) was the keyboardist for The Bread and Beer Band in the late 1960s - at the same time he was attempting to launch his solo career as Elton John. "Breakdown Blues" was an original track by the band, and was the B-side to their only officially released record "The Dick Barton Theme (The Devil's Gallop)". The Bread and Beer Band was Reg Dwight, Caleb Quaye on guitar, Roger Pope on drums, Bernie Calvert on bass, and Lennox Jackson on percussion. They were produced by Tony King. Fortunately for all of us music-loving humans, The Bread & Beer Band was not a success, but young Elton John managed to keep his carrer going for the next 40 years!!!! And still going strong!
