“Just like the police have trustworthy informants, we do too. We have some good people from within the community who alert us every time a heist is being planned. They tell us the exact route that will be taken, and according to that we decide where exactly we should intercept the vehicle carrying the cows,” says Dheeraj Kaushik, who heads the Gau Raksha Dal in Mathura.
