On January 24, a student opened fire in a lecture hall at the Heidelberg University in Germany. The 18-year-old student killed a young woman and injured three others before he left the spot and killed himself. The tragedy took place during an organic chemistry class for bioscience students. Bernhard Eitel, university president, told reporters that the gunman was himself enrolled for the course. When the police reached the spot, the gunman’s body was lying outside the building.
