2nd Amendment supporters gathered near the Virginia State Capitol on Monday for the state’s annual Lobby Day, where constituents lobby lawmakers near the beginning of the year’s legislative session.
While demonstrators are now prohibited from carrying firearms on the Capitol grounds, gun rights advocates took to the streets nearby in Richmond, open carrying as some held a ‘Patriot Food Drive’ mutual aid event.
Groups present on Monday included Liberate RVA, Black Lives Matter 757, VMAG (Virginia Mutual Assistance Group), Right to Bear Arms Virginia, and Virginia Kekoas, a local Boogaloo group.
A few interactions took place with police over specific areas where demonstrations and carrying firearms are permitted, but the day otherwise proceeded without incident.
