Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi’s brother Manohar Singh was denied a ticket to contest the upcoming Assembly polls. Manohar Singh, who had resigned as senior medical officer from Kharar civil hospital, was eyeing to contest from Bassi Pathana. The Congress is instead fielding sitting legislator Gurpreet Singh GP from the Bassi Pathana Assembly seat. This has given rise to a "War of Sardars" in the state with CM Channi and Navjot Singh Sidhu taking on each other indirectly.
