This is the most important shrine for the Sikh people, and is located in Amritsar, Punjab, India. It is also known as Hari Mandir and officially renamed as Harmandir Sahib in March 2005. This is the seat of the holy book of the Sikh gurus - the Guru Granth Sahib. Its construction began in 1574 and the temple or gurudwara was completed in 1604.
