Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra on January 8 said that it will be mandatory for the political parties to upload on their website detailed information regarding individuals with pending criminal cases selected as poll candidates. As per ECI, parties will also have to give a reason to select the candidate. “Details of the candidate have to be uploaded within 48 hours of selection of the candidate,” Chandra added. Details will also be uploaded on the ‘Know Your Candidate’ application developed by the ECI.
