Keoladeo Ghana National Park, is located in Rajasthan and is easily accessible from Agra & Jaipur.This National Park is 175 km from Jaipur and 185 km from Delhi. Bharatpur National Park is famous for its wide variety of birds in all over the world. Total area of the sanctuary is 29 sq km. The National Park is well known for its numerous species of birds and it is an excellent place to spot mammals. There are about 365 species of birds, including the rare Siberian Cranes. Also many water birds migrate from Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Siberia and China. Originally, Keoladeo was the private hunting gorund of the Kings of Bharatpur. The hunting was discontinued in the 1960's and the area was declared a National Park in 1981. After five years, in 1985, Keoladeo Lake and the surrounding area was listed in the UNESCO's list of world natural heritage. For safaris, the emphasis is laid for eco-friendly conveyance; rickshaws and tongas(horse cart) are used. Boat trips are also available. The best time to visit Keoladeo is during the winter i.e. from November until March. Durind the monsoon months, the breeding season happens. During August and September when the water lillies bloom, it is even more entertaining and wonderful.
