The seven-day average was 2,54,496 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, December 28 according to Johns Hopkins University data. Tuesday’s numbers broke the country's previous record of about 251,989 daily cases, reported on January 11 of this year. The UK, France are faring similarly with cases surging across Europe. France meanwhile reported Europe's highest ever number of new daily cases. Health authorities in England reported a record 117,093 cases.
