The situation remained tense along the Maharashtra-Karnataka border over the recent incidents of vandalism and defacement of statues. While Maharashtra claims the border district of Belagavi should belong to it, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai stated that there is no question of letting go even an inch of the state’s border. He added that if Kannadigas in parts of Maharashtra wish to join the state and pass resolutions in this regard, his government was ready for it.
