This is the moment a rescuer in New Mexico slowly crawls across a partially frozen lake to save a stranded deer.

The incident took place on Monte Verde Lake, which is near Angel Fire, which is a village in the Rocky Mountains in the US state of New Mexico.

The first part of the footage, which was shared online by the Angel Fire Fire Department shows the rescuer, who has not been named, slowly crawling across the lake and inching towards the stranded animal, while a second video shows the deer being pulled across the frozen lake to safety.

The Angel Fire Fire Department was called out after the deer ventured out onto the ice and became trapped. The Fire Department said that the deer was unable to stand up without slipping and falling over again.

The rescuers said: "A deer had wandered onto the partially frozen lake, fell and was not able to get up."

Once the deer was successfully rescued from the lake, it was allowed to run off back into the wild, as it did not appear to be injured in any way.

Monte Verde Lake is a beautiful tourist spot up in the mountains, which is said to offer activities such as boating, fishing, hiking, and paddle boarding.
