What should India’s vaccination strategy be amid concerns over the Omicron variant?

The Omicron variant, which was detected in South Africa, has put the focus back on vaccinations. In India, there have been demands for a booster shot. Many countries including the US had already been giving booster doses to adults six months after the second dose. The UK, which was offering boosters to those above 40 has now opened it up to all adults above the age of 18 amid concerns over the new variant.
Should India follow much of the western world and roll out boosters for its adults? Or should India focus on giving its adult population both doses instead? TNM’s Anna Isaac spoke to two doctors to find out what India’s vaccination strategy should be.
