On December 1, the central government challenged the Uddhav Thackeray led Maharashtra government’s revised measures on quarantine for international travellers. These guidelines have been issued in view of concerns over the new Covid-19 variant, Omicron. Rajesh Bhushan, Union Health Secretary, in a letter said that the order issued by the Maharashtra government is in divergence with curbs issued by Union Health Ministry. The Modi led central government asked the state to align its order with the SOPs issued by the Union Health Ministry.
