Tripura has become the site for political tension between the BJP and TMC. On Sunday, the TMC alleged that party workers were beaten with sticks and stones inside a police station in Agartala by BJP members.
The ruling BJP, however, denied the allegations. On Monday, a delegation of TMC leaders reached Delhi to raise the issue of violence in the state and staged a dharna at the home ministry when they weren’t given an appointment with Amit Shah. The Union home minister finally met them and said he had spoken to the chief minister. The TMC also filed a petition before the Supreme Court regarding the ‘worsening law and order situation’ in Tripura. The Supreme Court will hear the petition today.
