Vandals have broken into Fort Amherst in Chatham causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.

Police were called to the Napoleonic fort after the break-in last night, which is the sixth time in as many months.

The heritage site, which is one of Medway's most popular attractions, has been searched by officers but no suspects were found.
