An expert at the University of Kent has joined a group of MPs in calling for the government to investigate decriminalising the possession of illegal drugs.

Professor Alex Stevens says there could be substantial benefits to the change as the health and social care committee argues it could prevent the rising number of deaths.

However the government says it has no intention of decriminalising drug possession.
