On November 18, Omar Abdullah staged a sit-in protest in Srinagar. Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) vice president and the former chief minister demanded that the bodies of the two civilians killed during an encounter between police and terrorists in Hyderpora should be returned. The encounter took place on November 18. A tweet on JKNC’s official Twitter account read, “After the family member of the slain informed him that the authorities have assured the return of dead bodies, the protest was called off.” Omar Abdullah and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti have been raising their voices against the encounter. Abdullah tweeted, “It’s outrageous that the J&K administration did not allow the families to conduct a peaceful sit-in protest.” Vijay Kumar, inspector general (Kashmir), in a statement said that the bodies were buried to avoid law and order issues. On November 18, J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha ordered a magisterial investigation into the matter. Watch the video to know more.
