As several parts of Chennai remained under water till late on Thursday, over 75,000 police officers and other government authorities are on war footing to help citizens. The excess water from the dams has turned the suburbs into a virtual, large water body as streets swirled with deluge and trash. Power cut was effected in several regions considering safety. The rains also caused damage to roads and causeways.
