दीपावली खत्म होते ही श्रद्धालु अब लोक आस्था के महापर्व छठ की तैयारी में जुट गए हैं। छठ महापर्व का चार दिवसीय अनुष्ठान नहाय-खाय के साथ शुरू होता है। नहाय खाय के अगले दिन उपवास रख व्रती खरना पूजन करती हैं। इसके अगले भगवान भास्कर को पहला अर्ध्य शाम को दिया जाता है। छठ के अंतिम दिन प्रात:काल उदयीमान सूर्य को अर्ध्य दिया जाता है और इसके साथ ही चार दिवसीय अनुष्ठान पूरा हो जाता है।
