Saikhom Mirabai Chanu is dying to return to Imphal. The Manipuri has hardly been home in the last five years as she trained hard after Rio Olympics 2016 to win a medal at Tokyo 2020. On Saturday, Mirabai Chanu won India's first medal at the Tokyo Olympics when she clinched a weightlifting silver in the 49 kg class. Manipur chief minister N. Biren congratulated Mirabai Chanu and promised 'Manipur's daughter' a slew of rewards, including a job commensurate with her status as an Olympic medal winner. Mirabai Chanu is a ticket collector with the Indian Railways. Mirabai Chanu is arriving in India on Monday (July 26).
