Twenty-one-year-old Elavenil Valarivan will be a top medal contender in the women's 10 metre air rifle category. A former world No. 1, Elavenil was born in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu and has been on a gold-winning spree in the last two years. Elavenil has to justify the faith the national federation has shown on her. She is the only shooter in the 15-member Indian shooting squad in Tokyo who did not win a quota place but was given one after Anjum Moudgil clinched it for India. With gold medals in World Cups, Elavenil will also team up in the mixed events.
