What is a dinosaur? The “dinosaurs” or “dino” were spectacular animals that ruled our planet for more than 150 million years. The word dinosaur means “terrible lizard,” and, like lizards and snakes, dinosaurs were reptiles. Some dinosaurs were fierce hunters and carnivores (meat-eaters), while others were peaceful plant-eaters (herbivores). These ancient reptiles lived on land, laid eggs, and built nests. They walked on their toes, standing upright on pillarlike legs and holding their long, bony tails off the ground. Although most dinosaurs are now extinct, one group of dinosaurs still roams the planet today birds. Birds were once thought to be the descendants of dinosaurs, but now scientists think that they actually are dinosaurs, which means that this fantastically successful group of animals has been around for 230 million years. The human family tree, by comparison, is only three million years old! diplodocus and the tyrannosaurus.
It is also called a korean “dinosaur” (공룡), japan (そして日本の恐竜) 'dinosaur', we mean they're living in the past.
