In the final of the 14th season of the Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 27 runs in Dubai to win the fourth title, batting first, Chennai scored 192 in 20 overs on the strength of Faf du Plessis. The score was scored, in response, Kolkata's team could only score 165 for 9 wickets, in the year 2012, before the final match was played between CSK and KKR, Dhoni's team was defeated under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir. Now after 8 years these teams were in the final against each other and Dhoni completed his old revenge by defeating KKR.

इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग के 14वें सीजन के फाइनल में दुबई में चेन्नई सुपर किंग्स की टीम ने कोलकाता नाइट राइडर्स को 27 रन से हराते हुए चौथा खिताब हासिल किया, पहले बल्लेबाजी करते हुए चेन्नई ने फाफ डु प्लेसिस की दमदार पारी के दम पर 20 ओवर में 192 रन का स्कोर खड़ा किया था, जवाब में कोलकाता की टीम 9 विकेट पर 165 रन ही बना पाई, साल 2012 में सीएसके और केकेआर के बीच इससे पहले फाइनल मैच खेला गया था तब गौतम गंभीर की कप्तानी में धौनी की टीम को हार मिली थी। अब 8 साल के बाद ये टीमों एक-दूसरे के सामने फाइनल में थी और धौनी ने केकेआर के हराकर अपना पुराना बदला पूरा कर लिया।
