Wat Chimplee at Koh Kret Island in Thailand

Views 10

Koh Kret is a small island in the Chao Phraya River, just north of Bangkok, Thailand. It’s known as a settlement of the Mon people, whose famed terracotta is on display in the Kwan Aman Museum. The island is actually man-made; created 300 years ago when a channel was cut through a sharp U-bend in the Chao Phraya River, thus shortening the distance one had to travel up and down the river from Ayutthaya, the former capital of Thailand.
