Charanjit Singh Channi has taken over as the new Chief Minister of Punjab. Channi comes from the Dalit Sikh community and is the first Dalit face in Punjab, which has about 32 percent of the Dalit population, to have held the biggest seat of power in the state. The opposition has taken a jibe at it and has told the state president of Punjab itself as a threat to the nation. It is also being said whether the work of giving a dummy CM to Punjab has been done by the party when the elections will be fought under the leadership of Sidhu.
