The idol of Ganesha is installed on Ganesh Chaturthi, and on Anant Chaturdashi, the farewell of Ganpati Bappa takes place. This year Ganesh Visarjan will take place on 19th September. On this day the idol of Ganpati Bappa will be immersed in water. The celebration of Ganeshotsav lasts for ten days across the city. Lord Ganesha is worshiped first in Hinduism. Ganesh Jayanti is celebrated with pomp across the country. Although there are many stories related to Ganesh Visarjan, but it is such a belief of people that on this day with Ganesh Visarjan, they also remove all the obstacles in their house.

गणेश चतुर्थी को गणेश जी की प्रतिमा की स्थापना की जाती है, और अनंत चतुर्दशी के दिन गणपति बप्पा की विदाई होती है। इस साल गणेश विसर्जन 19 सितंबर को होगा। इस दिन गणपति बप्पा की मूर्ति को जल में प्रवाहित किया जाएगा। शहर भर में गणेशोत्सव की धूम दस दिनों तक रहती है। हिंदु धर्म में गणेश जी को सर्वप्रथम पूजा जाता है। गणेश जयंती को पूरे देश में धूमधाम से मनाया जाता है। यूं तो गणेश विसर्जन से जुड़ी बहुत सी कहानियां हैं, लेकिन लोगों की ऐसी मान्‍यता है कि इस दिन गर्णश विसर्जन के साथ वे अपने घर की सभी बाधाओं को भी दूर कर देते हैं। गणेश मूर्ति के विसर्जन से पहले उनकी विधि विधान से पूजा अर्चना की जाती है, और फिर मोदक और फलों का भोग लगाया जाता है। गणेश जी की आरती करके उनसे आशीर्वाद प्राप्त कर अगले साल जल्दी आने का आग्रह करते हुए उन्हें विदा किया जाता है। लोग पटरी पर लाल या गुलाबी कपड़ा बिछाकर मूर्ति रखकर ढोल नगाड़ों के साथ गुलाब बरसाते हुए नाचते गाते मूर्ति विसर्जन करते हैं।
