On September 17, a Mysuru-based journalist was allegedly assaulted by VHP activists at the Hindu Jagarana Vedike protest site. Mohammed Safdar Kaiser was attacked. He is the chief editor of ‘The Daily Kausar’, a local Urdu newspaper. Members of the group were protesting against the demolition of temples at the Mysuru Palace. The journalist was recording the speech of Vedike general secretary Jagadish Karanth when a group of Right-wing activists raised an objection, reported The Indian Express. They demanded Kaiser to delete the recording. The police rushed to help the journalist. Mohammed Safdar Kaiser filed a complaint at the Devaraja police station in the city.
