In the center east of Italy, in the region of Abruzzo, there is the only museum in the world dedicated to love letters.
There are more than 20,000 letters from various times and from all around the world.
The collection is impressive, from love letters dating from WWI or poetical missive between two lovers under fascism times.
There are even two rooms full of thousands of letters written by believers to Pope John Paul II when he was on his death bed.
The letters written in every language and put all around his coffin are displayed, as even devotion is a form of love.
A room is dedicated to immigrants where in an approximative Italian, you’ll read moving testimonies.
The museum reminds us how shameful it is that the tradition of writing and expressing love is now lost.
Today, love is said in a text or through an emoji and we never get the excitement of opening a letter and reading the words that the other has carefully chosen.
