One year old herb, erect, up to 1 m high. Ribbed stems (=angulata) are sharp and hollow. The leaves are ovate elongated with a pointed tip, with a flat edge or not, 2.5-10.5 × 5–15 cm.

Flowers in the armpits, with erect stalks, purplish, and with nodding ends. The petals are five-shared, with a triangular and tapered peduncle, green with purplish ribs. Bell-like crown, shallow five-lobed, light yellow with dark yellow and brown spots on inner neck, 7–9 mm in height. Pale yellow anthers with light blue anthers.

Fruit in an egg-shaped bundle of swollen petals with a tapered tip, light yellowish green, with purplish ribs, 2–4 cm long. Buni fruit inside is round and elongated, 1.5–2 cm, yellowish when ripe, sweet and liked by children.
