At least three people were killed and more than 10 injured after Taliban fighters opened fire at a crowd of protesters in Jalalabad, Afghanistan on August 18. Protesters removed a Taliban flag that was hoisted in place of the black, red and green flag of the previous Afghan government at one of the roundabouts in the city. A video of the incident in Jalalabad shows multiple shots being fired in a crowded street. Armed men who opened fire were Taliban fighters who were later seen charging at the crowd with batons, reported Aljazeera. One video showed protesters waving the flag of the previous Afghan government. Protesters in Khost, about seven hours from Jalalabad also managed to raise the flag even as gunshots were fired in the air. Women also took to the streets to protest. As the Taliban took over Afghanistan completely, a resistance force, led by Ahmad Massoud, son of late Afghan politician Ahmad Shah Massoud, is reportedly gathering strength in Panjshir. Massoud is joined by Afghan’s first vice president Amrullah Saleh. Watch the video to know more.
