Estonian veteran Rein Taaramae produced a brilliant ride on the slopes of Picon Blanco on Monday to win the third stage of La Vuelta to take over the leader's red jersey.
The 34 year-old Intermarche rider had one previous stage win in the race ten years ago but secured a second when he finished 21 seconds ahead of UAE Team Emirates' Joe Dombrowski with Kenny Elissonde finishing third for Trek-Segafredo.
Previous race leader Primoz Roglic lost the red jersey after finishing seventh on the stage, one minute and 48 seconds behind Taaramae who now holds a 25-second lead over Elissonde, with Roglic dropping to third overall.
