In a statement on Monday (Aug 16), Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah had accepted Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and the entire Cabinet's resignation with immediate effect.

Muhyiddin will act as caretaker Prime Minister until his successor is appointed.
