Neeraj Chopra has won the first gold for India in this Olympics, which he has won in the good throw event. Neeraj has won India's first medal in field and track by throwing 87.58 meters away. With this, Neeraj has become the second Indian to have won gold in singles events of the Olympics, before Abhinav Bindra won the gold medal for India in the year 2008 in 10m shooting. With this, India has ended this Olympics with a gold medal.

नीरज चोपड़ा ने भारत के लिए इस ओलिंपिक में पहला गोल्ड जीता है जो उन्होंने भला फेंक स्पर्धा में जीता है। नीरज ने 87.58 मीटर दूर भला फेंक कर भारत को फील्ड एंड ट्रैक में पहला मेडल जीता दिया है। इसी के साथ नीरज ऐसे दूसरे भारतीय बन गए है जिन्होंने ओलंपिक्स के सिंगल इवेंट्स में गोल्ड जीता हो इससे पहले भारत के लिए अभिनव बिंद्रा ने साल 2008 में भारत को 10 मीटर शूटिंग में गोल्ड मेडल दिलाया था। इसी के साथ भारत ने इस ओलिंपिक का अंत गोल्ड मेडल के साथ किया है।
