The month of Sawan is considered very sacred in Hinduism. It is believed that worshiping Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati during this time brings auspicious results. At the same time, it is specially offered to Bholenath due to the fact that Bilva leaves, Datura and different flowers are very popular. But if these things are not there, even by offering grains, you can get the infinite grace of Shiva. Yes, in Shiv Purana it has been said about offering different things including pulses to Mahadev. According to religious beliefs, offering it removes the problems of life and brings happiness and prosperity.
