Tasmanian author Amanda Lohrey is calling for a greater focus on the performing arts in schools to improve the state’s literacy rates. Yesterday, Ms Lohrey became the second Tasmanian to win Australia’s most prestigious prize for literature, while many Tasmanians still struggle to read and write.
