The U.S. has approved airstrikes against Iran-backed militias in Syria and Iraq. This is the second time the United States has interfered in the Middle East under Biden's presidency, the first being in February. According to Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby, the airstrikes were undertaken with the safety of U.S. personnel in mind.
