India vaccinated nearly 81 lakh people against Covid-19 on the first day of the Centre's new vaccine regime on Monday. Data on the government's CoWin website showed a total of 8,096,492 vaccine jabs were administered on Monday till 9 pm. The number is expected to rise further. This is the record number of Covid vaccines administered in a single day.

With the Centre targeting vaccination for all by December end, the big question is whether the vaccination drive can be sustained over the next six months.
