The second wave of coronavirus has hit India hard. According to the latest data by the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), more than 2.5 crore people became unemployed in the country during the Corona period. As most of the states in the country remained under lockdown amid the second wave of Covid-19, the unemployment rate shot up to a 12-month high at 11.9 per cent in May compared to 7.97 per cent in April. During a program with Aaj Tak, an expert revealed that amid the coronavirus pandemic, the agriculture sector has emerged as the bright spot in India's economy and has saved the country's sinking economy.
