This is footage shot in the Nanda Devi National Park and its nearby regions where Harish Kapadia, expedition leader and other members of our team came across the remains of several Himalayan Musk Deer targeted by poachers, rare species of flowers such as Fritillaria and Anemone obtusiloba. First view of Nanda Devi from within the gorge, and the trek into the inner sanctuary, up the treacherous Rishi Ganga gorge. The peaks of the north sanctuary can be seen as we traverse the rocky stretches before Sarsarpatal. Nanda Devi National Park is a Biosphere Reserve Area surrounded by buffer Zone. It was recognized as a World Heritage Site under The Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Program of UNESCO since 1988 (including its adjoining areas). Later in 2004, this Reserve was inscribed amongst the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves. The park is located in Uttaranchal State of India and is situated near the Nanda Devi Peak, the second highest mountain in India. The Core Zone of The Biosphere consists of two National Parks rich in flora and fauna viz Nanda Devi National Park and The Valley of Flowers. The core area has rare species of animals such as Snow leopard, Himalayan black bear, Himalayan brown bear, Himalayan musk deer, Blue sheep, Himalayan Thar etc. About 493 species of plants In Nanda Devi National Park and 521 species of plants from Valley of Flowers have been identified.
