Migrant workers gathered at Bengaluru Cantt Railway Station to board a train back to their home town as the state is under 14-day lockdown to contain the spread of Covid-19.

In order to prevent migrants from leaving, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has taken the initiative to provide free food with the Indira Canteen kitchen.

The canteen aims to distribute 1 lakh breakfast, lunch and dinner packets.

BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta said, “Maximum of 3 packets per person will be given. This is to take care of people who have been rendered jobless because of lockdown conditions. 15 such kitchens are set up in the city and through them, we're reaching out to 196 centres, where distribution will take place,” said BBMP Chief Commissioner.
