As official trends showed that the Bharatiya Janata Praty (BJP) is set to retain power in Assam, party workers celebrated by distributing sweets at the party office in Guwahati on May 2. In the 126-seat Assam Assembly, BJP is leading in 57 seats with its allies ahead on around 20. Voting for these elections took place in three phases between March 27 and April 6.
