Brad Stevens was interviewed postgame following the Celtics’ 105-87 win vs the Denver Nuggets. The Celtics mounted a major comeback to take home the win in game one of their three-game road trip.
Boston managed to go on a massive 40-8 run to end the game, including a 31-8 fourth quarter. “We went to a different level,” said Stevens. “We were physical and were attacking. We went to switching and our guys did a really good job of that.”
Stevens also commented on the play of Nikola Jokic who was absolutely torching the Celtics when he was on the floor. “Jokic is a hard guy” to cover, said the coach. He praised the big man’s ability to run the pick n’ roll to near perfection.
Young guns Romeo Langford and Grant Willams both saw big-time minutes in this one. “I thought Romeo and Grant played well. But… they did their jobs. We need them to play well,” said Stevens. “They did a nice job of that today.”
The head coach also talked about the solid defense the team played, as well as the momentum they were able to build. “They missed some shots in there but we also challenged a lot,” said Stevens. “This trip gives us a chance to compete against good teams on a tough stretch.”
