Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong told reporters on Thursday that he would stay on until the People's Action Party's fourth-generation (4G) team identifies his successor.
This comes after his deputy Heng Swee Keat announced that he would step aside to take helm as the next leader.
Lee called Heng's decision as a "selfless" one.
