Brad Stevens spoke at his postgame press conference about Boston playing risky with the basketball and paying the price, racking up 20 turnovers in a 106-96 loss against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Rob Williams struggled the whole game against Joel Embiid, eventually fouling out. Brad Stevens said the 76ers play a physical brand of basketball, specifically Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris. “He's got a lot to work on, but he's getting better and he'll keep getting better. He's going to get better with his hands and with going straight up. If I had to guess going into this game, he was going to foul a few times,” said Stevens on the young center.
In terms of matching, Stevens doesn’t believe the Celtics can or should try to match that kind of play, but hopes Tatum and Brown can try to add a bit of craftiness to their games. On ball movement, Coach Stevens said the team needed to do a better job of cutting and getting to the basket, and they can’t beat a team like this by going into iso scoring."You can't beat these guys in isolation. They are too quick and too long."
