The coronavirus tally in India has mounted to 1,23,03,131 after 81,466 new infections were reported in a span of 24 hours - the highest single-day rise in cases since October 2, 2020 - according to the Union Health Ministry data. The fresh cases were reported from eight states namely Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Kerala.
